Community Birth & Family Center is proud to now offer lactation services to anyone in need of support and care. Breastfeeding services are provided by RN lactation consultants formerly from Great Starts Birth and Family Education.


Call our pager anytime from 9am-6pm daily and receive a response within two hours of your call. Telephone consults are free. We also offer Clinic Visits and Home Visits at your residence. Your lactation consultant will give direction on the best option for you and your baby.

Breastfeeding Help Beyond the Hospital Stay Conference


Community Birth & Family Center and Public Health of Seattle King County present "Breastfeeding Help Beyond the Hospital Stay," a one-day conference for healthcare providers to learn common breastfeeding challenges experienced by mothers after leaving the hospital. You will explore solutions and sources of support. After this conference you will be able to:
1. Develop a sleep plan that will optimize infant and family sleep.
2. Appreciate the ethical dilemma facing care providers who want to support breastfeeding mothers' bed sharing with their babies.
3. Describe infant conditions that may interfere with effective latch and determine potential interventions.
4. Describe principal bacterial causes of breast infections, including the prevalence, clinical significance and treatment options for methicillin resistant staph aureus (MRSA).

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS: A certificate of attendance will be given to all conference participants. Continuing education credit including 1.25 E CERPs have been applied for through the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. Nursing continuing education contact hour approval is pending through Public Health - Seattle & King County, an approved provider of continuing education by the Washington State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
